The adventurers among us dream in cinematic proportions. Their curiosity, tenacity and resourcefulness ensure there is always a way to realise these big dreams. It may require some specialised equipment but there is always a way.

The embodiment of the adventurer’s unwavering quest for the secluded, the challenging and the pristine is the explorer yacht. A truly ocean-going yacht which does not compromise – not on capacity, not on performance, not on luxury.

Australia’s leading explorer charter yacht is M/Y BELUGA (opens in a new tab). She is 35-metres in length and hails from Dutch builder, Moonen. Thanks to an adventuring Owner, BELUGA (opens in a new tab) boasts every conceivable piece of equipment for the exploration of a lifetime including a brand new, custom-built 40-foot chase boat – M/V MINKE.

M/V MINKE was crafted and launched in 2017 by the renowned boat builder, Assegai Marine. Designed to be nimble, fast and stable, she complements BELUGA (opens in a new tab) by reaching small and secluded anchorages, reefs and fishing grounds. MINKE is available to charter guests interested in fishing, diving and exploration. She is crewed by a Skipper and Dive Master/Deckhand and boasts all the necessary equipment for discovery above and below the waterline.

More than a chaseboat, MINKE is luxurious. She has accommodation for up to five people and is air-conditioned with a full galley. Prepared for all conditions and situations, MINKE has a Seakeeper (opens in a new tab) Gyro Stabiliser which reduces wave motion for a calmer ride. She is fitted with Twin Disc Express Joystick technology (opens in a new tab) which integrates all systems onboard allowing the Skipper to fix her position, crab the boat diagonally, rotate 360o or even move sideways. It makes for a comfortable fishing and dive boat safely commanding sea conditions and accessibility.

With MINKE as part of the BELUGA (opens in a new tab) fleet, charter guests now have access to the main yacht, M/V MINKE, two-game fishing boats (opens in a new tab) (available on request), two Seabobs personal submersibles, a tender, jet skis, wakeboarding, skiing, scuba diving equipment, full fishing gear and snorkelling. An impressive array of equipment all managed and operated by a full and professional crew.

“Captain Bob and his crew did a great job and the boat and equipment were top notch. The Chef was over the top – I think maybe better than our previous charter which I thought would be hard to beat. The crew were so helpful and supportive of the kids when they wanted to snorkel and use the sea bob. Jake, one of the crew on the fishing boat, was awesome with my grandson. Every crew member was professional, kind and they did their jobs to perfection. Thank you for making this selection fit the bill perfectly,” offered a recent charter guest of BELUGA (opens in a new tab).

In 2018, BELUGA (opens in a new tab) with MINKE in tow will be extending her cruising grounds to include the Solomon Islands (opens in a new tab), The Kimberley (opens in a new tab) as well as Lizard Island (opens in a new tab), the Great Barrier Reef (opens in a new tab) and North Queensland. She is the perfect yacht to go further to the remote diving and fishing (opens in a new tab) spots of Australia (opens in a new tab)and the South Pacific (opens in a new tab)– ideal locations for those chasing the super fish (opens in a new tab) such as Marlin, Giant Trevally, Mahi-Mahi, Barramundi, Golden Trevally, Tuna and a variety of reef fish to mention a few.
